Skate and Surf Film Festival – Milano
The Annual SSFF – Skate & Surf Film Festival is the Italy’s largest celebration of contemporary skate and surf, art and culture bringing to the boot shaped country the very best skate and surf films from around the globe – a selected line up of premieres to inspire and entertain. The festival has become a must attend for skaters and surfers from all over the peninsula.
Now in its 9th year, we’ve grown the event organically, working with some of the most exciting filmmakers from across the globe, hosting packed out premieres and audiences with some of the most inspiring names in surfing and skateboarding.
SSFF is the original “social” experience and that is exactly what it is all about.
Of course, the films are only half the experience. The other half is the glorious chaos of the festival itself. Every screening feels like an explosion waiting to happen. But that’s the beauty of it all – there’s no safety net here. You either fly or you crash and burn.
Welcome to SSFF. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

JUDGES

Paul Labadie
Paul Labadie began filming skate videos with friends in Normandy in the mid-90s. His professional breakthrough came with Antizipated, the first Antiz Skateboards video, in 2003. Over the following decade, he produced several full-length videos for Antiz and worked on freelance projects with Carhartt (including Swiss Banks and Time Chase) and other brands. He also launched his own griptape company, Ashes. After a two-year break working as a cook, he joined the Vans Europe program in 2018.

Matteo Ferrari
Professional photographer and surfer for over 40 years. Contributor to some of the first surf and skate magazines in Italy (Surf Latino, Freezer just to name a few). Co-founder of the Onde Nostre project with Luca Merli. He has been living in Costa Rica for the past 10 years to pursue his passion for surfing.

Fede Tognoli
Federico Tognoli grew up in a small town near Brescia, Italy. He discovered snowboarding at nearly eighteen, but it was skateboarding the following summer that truly transformed his life. In 2001, he and his brother opened Frisco Shop, now one of the leading skate shops in Northern Italy and a key hub for the local scene. That same passion led Federico to pick up a camera and start documenting the Brescia skate community. Today, he is the Team Manager for the DC Shoes Italy Skate Team and works as a freelance photographer and videomaker.
