Albania – Balkans Surftrip
Erwan Simon already explored many destinations in the Mediterranean Sea (Malta & Gozo, Cyprus, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Croatia, Montenegro) and I knew Albania could potentially get waves, with maybe 10 or 12 swells per winter. His friend Randy Rarickk told him he surfed in Albania in the 70’s but he has never seen any photos of the surf in this former communist country. With a good forecast this week (south swell of 6-7 feet during 36 hours) we jumped in the plane to Tirana, we rent a car to explore the North West of the country near Shëngjin and Velipojë. We found good beachbreaks with a really special atmosphere and superb landscapes. No surfers but great people.
